Date: Thursday, August 4th 2022, beginning at 5:30 PM

Location: Des Moines City Hall, 21650 11th Avenue S, Des Moines

Supporter gathering: 5:30 PM

City Council meeting: 6:00 PM

A grassroots coalition of community supporters, history buffs and historic preservation

experts will rally Thursday, August 4th, 2022 at 5:30 pm at City Hall before the Des Moines City

Council meeting at 6:00 pm. Our purpose is to demonstrate the tremendous community support for

preserving and revitalizing the majestic Des Moines Landmark on the Sound.

We are inviting the press to come, so join us for a great rally!



ACTIVITIES AT THE EVENT

Prior to the City Council meeting, in Des Moines City Hall courtyard:

  • First 95 folks to arrive will receive our fun and funky Des Moines Masonic Home commemorative headgear!

  • Artist Dan Wend will be there with his plein air painting of the Des Moines Masonic Home - photo op!

  • Share your memories of the Masonic Home on our memory board!

  • Share your ideas for repurposing the Masonic Home on our future board!

  • Learn 10 Fun Facts about the history of the Des Moines Masonic Home!

  • Make and bring your own signs With messages like SUPPORT PRESERVATION! or DON'T TEAR DOWN OUR LANDMARK! (etc.)

  • Bring your cameras and post with #PreserveLandmarkontheSound hashtag

  • Be prepared to participate in these two cheers. (Does anyone have pom-poms?)
